Rear view mirrors idea originated in car racing

The first ever winner in the famous Indianapolis 500 race also implemented first rear view mirror. Ray Harroun’s car was made for one person without space for riding mechanic. He came up with an idea to install rear-facing mirror inside the car. He kept an eye on other drivers and won the race.
