Don’t launch your automatic car by revving in neutral
Launching your car means to rapidly accelerate it from a complete stop. It is not advisable to do so in any conditions, as it will put unnecessary strain on your car’s transmission and some other elements. However, if you decide to launch your car anyway and you happen to have an automatic gearbox, never do so by revving your engine in neutral and the switching to drive. This way you apply a big load on bands and clutches of your transmission, which are not design to deal with such impact.
Instead you should put your car in drive first with your left foot on the brakes, then rev the engine a little and release the brakes. This way, all the clutches and bands will be already in place and you will not risk damaging them, which could be quite expensive to repair.
