According to Consumer Energy Center, two minutes of idling your car will use the same amount of fuel as it would take to drive for one mile. That pretty much explains why start-stop systems are becoming so popular in new cars. And it also tells why we should be considering turning off the engine when stopping the car for a while if our car doesn’t feature such system.
